A Shell is a continuously layer of plastic that runs the perimeter of the part.  The number of shells can be changed but 2 shells is adiquate for most applications.

All solid parts will be manufactred as hollow with an %infill.  Infill will strnghten the part and assist in the printing process.  Typical values are 5-15% material infill.

Support Material

Support material is automaticaly generated when an overhang (See Below), exceeds 65 degrees.  This is sometime dificult to remove.

The following examples are designed to assist you in modifing your design so that the Support Material is not required.

Overhangs are areas of the part where there is nothing directly below.  A simple design fix is to provide an overhang an 70 degree (Maximum) chamfer that spans the entire overhang.

Overhangs

Bridging is a process that allows the printer to print an overhang so long that there is another point for it to attach to.   Bridging can span a gap aproximatly 4 inches without issue.  If a gap or hole is located between the two bridge points erros will occur.
